Chase was a sweet , happy and healthy little boy. The youngest of our 4 children, he had a big personality and a smile and dimples to match it! Mid June 2009, he began complaining of pain in the right side of his neck. We weren’t over concerned just thinking he slept funny. Motrin seemed to help. Fast forward about 7 weeks, after multiple Dr visits and phone calls, 2 ER visits , X-rays, blood work, all while the pain was getting worse by the day. Chase wasn’t sleeping or eating and was vomiting multiple times a day . He had a MRI of his brain and neck in early August which was negative. But I insisted the Dr admit him to the hospital and do further testing. On August 8, we were told that he had “ masses” in his abdomen and that’s where our cancer journey begin. He was ultimately diagnosed with Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor stage 4. He had 4 rounds of aggressive chemo, however this cancer was aggressive and vicious. Chase passed away on November 24, 2009, less than 4 months after diagnosis.
