“My sweet child brought 18 years and 18 days of joy to our world and will be missed immensely as long as we live.”

David Hojnacke is our forever 18 son. He was born in Las Vegas February 11, 2002. He was a happy person and loved people. He enjoyed reading, animals, and movies. We moved to Omaha, Nebraska when he was 4. He and his 2 siblings got along so well, he was a great big brother and a wonderful son. David had no problems with school or grades and his teachers adored him. In July 2015 he began having chest pain and vomiting. When we went to the doctor, I was told that teenagers don’t have heart conditions and he wrote us off with an appointment for GI in October. After I would not let it go, the doctor finally ordered some tests and we found a large tumor on his heart in August. Our world and routines entered turmoil and a battery of tests, appointments and surgeries to fight his Synovial Sarcoma. Our David fought bravely and had many struggles during this time, but as sweet and courageous as ever. He remained positive and pleasant for the 3 and a half years of his battle. His war was over February 29th, 2020. My sweet child brought 18 years and 18 days of joy to our world and will be missed immensely as long as we live.
