My beautiful Dylan was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT) , a soft tissue sarcoma, in September of 2018. He fought a 2 year and 1 month courageous battle, earning his wings October 2020 at the age of 13. He fought so hard. 16 rounds of chemo, 25 sessions of WAR radiation, a 20 hour resection surgery to remove 809 tumors from the abdomen, countless days and nights in the hospital. He was a true warrior. I pray that one day families don’t have to bury their children because of this monster of a disease.
I pray that one day, they find a cure. I have wished a million times that my son could have just enjoyed the things he loved, baseball, 4 wheelers, hanging with friends. But he had to grow up at the age of 11 and take on the burden of pediatric cancer. My husband and I carried that burden as much as we could for him and gave him the best life we could. And although short, he leaves behind a beautiful legacy-that is something cancer couldn’t take from him.
